On Tuesday night, before the bank holiday of 1st May, we went to Bohemian Soul in Graz again to have a gin and tonic tasting. It was the second time we went but the third time they organized it.
Bohemian Soul is a cafe, shop and event place in Gries (Dreihackengasse 32). They organise many interesting events and it’s very popular with expats living in Graz. It shares its location with Seddwell centre, an educational organisation offering language courses amongst other things.

The gin and tonic tasting
So we went to the Gin and Tonic tasting because we are big fans of Gin and love to test our palate with different tastes. We enjoy coming to these events because Erlend, one of the owners of Bohemian Soul, makes his own homemade tonics.
For this event, he made five: rhabarber, orange and rosemary, coke, raspberry, and maracuja.
The gin selection was the following:
- Original GIN
- The GOOD Gin
- Wachholderbär
- Fuxbau

We got to taste 10cl of every type of gin, mixing and matching them with the homemade tonics. And after the 4 tasters, we could make our own “big” gin and tonic with our favourites.
The surprise of the night was that the creator of the GOOD Gin was there to present her works. This gin is produced near Graz and only in small batches. I had the opportunity to talk to Susanne, the creator of the gin, and I will write the interview I had with her in a couple of days.
The GOOD Gin and the Wachholderbär were our favourite ones.

We both had a lovely time there. It is always interesting to taste all the different types of Gin and learning all about them. We will definitely go again if there will be another event! Erlend and Debbie are perfect hosts. They also complemented the tasting with a constant flow of snacks and cakes. Even vegan options were available. 😉
If you want to join in the future, make sure to follow their facebook page to get notified for future events. You can also drop by during their opening hours and you can have a taste of gin and tonic as well, by giving a voluntary donation. 🙂
